In my quest for the best juice extractor I realized that I had too many needs for just one juicer to fulfill. So I decided I needed the best simple electric citrus juicer as well as a centrifugal juicer and a dual screen single auger juicer. While you can get higher quality citrus juice from the Braun Mp80 and the Omega 8003 juicer I bought, I sometimes had need for just the citrus water from the fruit quickly. I didn't want to always get out the other juicers and peel the rind in order to get a quick glass of orange juice or lime juice for margaritas.
Note: If you want high quality citrus juice, you need to peel the rind off and leave the pith on. Juice the fruit that way to get the most nutrients. And you'll need a machine like the Omega 8003 juicer or a centrifugal juicer.
I ended up getting a Braun Mpz7 citrus juicer to extract citrus water from my oranges quickly. It's been a fine juicer for the number of years I've had it.
The good points of this juicer are:
Here's video review of the Braun Mpz 7 citrus juicer that I did.
Advvantages of this Braun citrus juicer:
It's small in size making it easy to store.
Cleaning is simple. I've found most citrus juicers are the easiest juicers to clean.
I like the reservoir at the bottom because it holds several cups of juice before I have to empty it. And I need that much room because I tend to juice a lot of oranges at certain times of the year. There is an orange and lemon tree in my backyard.
For me it was easier to use than the manual citrus juicers available online. Those often need more counter space and a lot of headroom in order to bring the handles down.
In a comparison of price with other juicers both manual and electric, this one was inexpensive.
The disadvantages of this juice extractor are:
I feel the electric motor is weak sometimes and maybe it doesn't get the best juice yield from the citrus fruit. However, it is not so bad for such an inexpensive machine.
You do have to empty the pulp catcher periodically while juicing but that happens with most juicers once they get too much pulp in them.
The juice has some pulp in it. Some people don't like that but I actually do.
If you have to juice around 30 oranges like I have, it will hurt the palm of your hand. You can use the plastic dust cover that comes with some juicers to wedge the orange half down on the reamer to save your palm but this can be awkward and slow.
In conclusion while I like my Braun Mpz7 citrus juicer, Braun doesn't manufacture them anymore it turns out. There is an occasional one to be found at some online merchants. This leftover stock I imagine. You can find Braun's discontinued Citromatic model some places as well. It's a shame Braun doesn't manufacture these anymore. I guess they make more money selling razors.
So even though I like mine, I'm thinking of getting a new one because the palm hurting issue is big for me.
If I did want to replace my machine with another almost exactly the same, I'd buy the Black & Decker CJ525 Citrusmate Plus citrus juicer. It is almost the same as the Braun. Reviews from consumers are all positive.
However, for me I know it's not powerful enough to handle the amount of oranges I want to do. I know even though it's gotten good reviews it will hurt my hand. But if I only wanted to spend $20+ shipping, I'd get the Black & Decker CJ525 Citrusmate Plus citrus juicer.
Since I'm thinking of getting a new one, I want a really good one this time. I'm looking at the Breville Citrus juicer 800CPXL first. This is a very nice machine that looks like a manual press but is actually electric. The reamer cone spins and you use the cap and handle to hold the fruit in place. I really like this one because I can tell I'll be able to juice a lot of fruit without getting a sore hand. The guiding cap holds the fruit in place instead of my hand. Very nice. This is also a quality machine made out of die cast steel. And from the video below, I've seen it is easy to clean. My only concern with this juicer is its size. It is taller and much bigger than the Braun. That might be the trade off in order to handle the fruit load I want to juice.
Other citrus juicers I am considering are the 85 watt CitriStar Juicer
by Tribest and the Waring PCJ218 Citrus Juicer. They run roughly within about $20 in price of each other and are both solid juicers. Both are easy to clean and have gotten solid reviews.
Check back soon because I plan to purchase one of these and give it a good video review.
In the meantime, check out the video below on the Breville Citrus juicer 800CPXL. I think it gives a good idea at what this juicer can do.
