The best quality wheatgrass juicers most people buy are electric because they are capable of doing a multi-number of functions instead of just one.

When I was looking for a wheatgrass juicer, I decided early on that I didn't want one that just juiced wheatgrass. I didn't have a lot of kitchen counter or cabinet space so I didn't have room for a lot of machines. Plus I knew I would only juice wheatgrass sporadically because again I only had so much space to grow it. Therefore I knew I wouldn't have a constant supply. For me and what many others have discovered is that the best quality wheatgrass juicers that offer the most value are the multipurpose machines. These juicers juice all types of vegetables and fruit as well as having food processing functions.

Another consideration for me was that I didn't want a manual crank wheatgrass machine because again I didn't have a counter top or table that I could easily clamp one to.

There are two types of electric multipurpose juicers that can do wheatgrass well. The twin gear variety such as the Green Star GS-1000 juicer is one type. The other type is the single auger machines like the Omega 8003 juicer. The best manual stainless steel wheatgrass juicers are based on the single auger design and in the end I decided to go with that design in an electric wheat grass machine.

Here are a number of reasons for my choice of the single auger machine over the twin gear design:

• Studies have shown that the single auger electric juicers will juice wheatgrass just about as well as the designated manual wheatgrass juicers with a lot less work involved. They are said to be slightly more efficient at juicing wheat grass than the twin gear designs. However, it should be noted this is a very slight edge and the twin gear juicers do some other things better than the single augers can. Grinding carrots efficiently is something twin gear juicers do better.
• The single auger design is more inexpensive than the twin gear juicers. They are almost half the price.
• This design is a slightly easier to clean because it has fewer parts.
• These juicers are extremely quiet and more compact in size which was important because I like to juice early in the morning and I have very little room on my kitchen counter top for machines.

The machine I picked was the Omega 8003 wheatgrass juicer which if you'd like to, you can read about in my Omega 8003 review. When I compared juicers that could juice wheat grass as well as fruits and vegetables, I felt this was the best for me.

Other multi-use single auger machines worth looking at for juicing wheatgrass as well as fruit and vegetables are:

• The Samson 6-in-1 juicer model GB-9001.
• Omega 8005 juicer which is the same as the 8003 only in a chrome color.
• The Solo Star II juicer from Tribest.
• L'equip Model 509 juicer.

All of these are good juicers but I preferred the Omega 8003 for its design and simplicity.

If you are still leaning toward the twin gear juicers, the only one I'd look at closely is the Green Star GS-1000, GS-2000 or GS-3000. These are all the same machine but each comes with more or less attachment kits for making nut butters, baby food, pasta and other foods. This is the reason for difference in price. The Green Star GS-1000 Juice Extractor are considered the most reliable twin gear juicers and Tribest has built a solid reputation on them.
