I haven’t gotten hold of a Vert yet. I don’t have the $300+ to spend on one now but I tried recently to get a used one off of Ebay for around $200. They are rare used and the guy that was selling it seemed a bit odd when I asked him why he was selling it. I didn’t trust him. The cool thing about the Vertical juicers is obviously the compactness of them. I have heard there were some issues with the first versions of them in regards to overheating but supposedly they problem got fixed.

So I’m sorry but I can’t really say much about the Verticals yet… Hopefully, this next year I’ll nab one and try it out.

As far as the Omega 8006 goes I think it is a great machine. It has a 15 year warranty which is crazy for the juicers. To my knowledge, no one offers that long a warranty other than Omega. It makes me feel really good about their products.

I have been using a centrifugal juicer and enjoying mostly fruit (orange, apples, pears) juice and am now looking to move to the next level. Primarily based on your reviews I am likely to purchase an Omega 8006 but was wondering if you had a chance to compare it to the Omega Vert. If so I would be grateful for your views.

The Gerson therapy has been around a long time. I believe them to be the first alternative cancer treatment specializing in fresh vegetable juice. The Juiceman went through their therapy, which is how he got interested in later coming up with his own line of juicers.

Gerson mainly believes in the Norwalk juicer, which is a big expensive combination of juicer and press. It chops the vegetables up into a filter bag. The bag is then placed in the hydraulic press. It works well but requires a lot of prep and clean up because of the filter bags. Most people will not want to buy a Norwalk new because they are very expensive. Also the clean up is demanding and the counter space of the device is too much for most people. However, the juice quality and juice yield is very high, which is probably why Gerson recommends this machine. I believe Gerson also recommends a twin blade juicer if you can not get a Norwalk.

Basically the Norwalk is a great juicer and if I had cancer, I might consider it. But I’m not scientifically positive the juice quality of it compared to a twin blade or even a single auger juicer is drastically better. However, if you have cancer, you do want the very best so… It comes down to personal choice, which is how it always works when it comes to juicers.

From what I’ve now read and can see of the Bullet Express Juicer, it is a cheap centrifugal juicer much like the Jack LaLanne juicer. However, it has a food processing attachment as well. Seems to sell for around $125 on Amazon if I’m looking at the right one.

I have not personally tried one but from reading about it and seeing it, here are my gut feelings on it.

From my experience with centrifugal juicers is in general they are more to clean up. They just have many big parts that collect or get covered with pulp. Therefore, clean up would a chore. Maybe one-step easier than the Jack Lalanne, which requires an extra step because of a design requiring you to unscrew the cutter. Very lame in my opinion.

Overall the reviews for the Bullet Express Juicer are pretty bad. I don’t think this is a good machine. For the money of around $125 I’d buy a Breville 95xl instead. My favorite centrifugal so far. Cheap and well designed. Still more to clean though.

The little Bullet blender we have is great for little things. The juicing attachment seems to turn the Bullet into a make shift centrifugal juicer. I have not tried it. I just have my doubts. This little blender is not that strong. I think jamming veggies into it would surely break it or burn out the motor. One review on Amazon panned it. From experience, I would believe that review. A good centrifugal needs a solid and strong robust motor. The Magic Bullet doesn’t have that. Even the Jack Lalanne has a weak motor so there is just no way in my mind that the Magic Bullet blender could do a good job at juicing.

I have not tried a Hamilton Beach juicer directly. I have seen them. Some people like them. When motors bog that usually means not enough power. Even the old Braun I have did not do that. Again the Hamilton and Lalanne juicers are messy to clean. Too many chunky parts. I don’t like cleaning juicers like this.

In general, some juicers require more prep than others. Some do a better job at cutting up or munching up the produce than others depending on the produce. Most of the better juicers require prep. They have small feed chutes. (That whole apple feeder tube is kind of a selling point but not that efficient in function in my opinion.) However, they also do a much better job at extracting juice. A much better job. Centrifugals juice thing fast. The denser the produce the better they grind it up. Apples, carrots, celery, beets, etc. are great in centrifugals. Overall your juice yield will be less.

If clean up is your major concern, the easiest to clean are the single auger models. Samson and Omega seem to be leading the pack for those. The one I love and own the Omega 8003 is awesome for clean up. Never bothers me to do it. However, the bummer is… cost is now around $250 for the upgraded 8004. Prep is more work. I cut everything up very small but the juice yield is great and juice quality seems to me to be very high. (There is hardly any air bubbles in it.)

Clean up and price seem to go together. The cheaper machines are harder to clean. No way around it. The cheaper machine are usually centrifugal ones. Everything you see for under $100 is either a centrifugal or citrus reamer juicer. Can’t use a reamer for anything but citrus.

Here are a couple options I think you should look at. I would look on Ebay. If you can find a Breville 95xl for the price you want to pay, think about that. In my opinion they are the easiest to clean of the centrifugal juicers that I’ve tried so far. The motor is strong and overall design much better than anything else I’ve tried. Also, look on Ebay for an Omega 8003. This is the old model. Used they go for less. However, I’d look for an auction with Buy It Now or Best Offer. Offer the seller what you’d like to pay if you think it is in your budget. There are a lot of these on Ebay and someone might just want to get rid of their old stock. Worth a shot I figure. Also, you might also look at the L’Equip Mini Pulp Ejection Juicer. These are around the $125 range too. I’ve not tried one personally. I’ve heard excellent things about them. I have a friend that loves his and I have to go over to house and do a video on it.

Each of these has certain good things and bad things. It isn’t easy to pick one. I guess you have to decide what your most important priorities are and eliminate machines as you go through that list.

In your review you said the thing isn’t a real juicer…but they have an other product so I’m wondering if you got the blender instead of the “Bullet Express Juicer!” which is part of the Bullet food processor It’s pretty close to a Jack LeLane centrifugal juicer… from what I can tell from the infomercial but has a head for food processing and a head for mixing and a head for juicing. I think it was 250 or 300. I’d be interested in seeing if the clean up is any better than other juicers or blenders…since clean up seems my biggest deterrent to actually making fresh juice. I’m curious what you think of this one.

Seems for the Bullet counter-top cutie blender that we both have, the main website shows a juicing attachment that doesn’t come with the 17 piece model (it’s in the 21 piece model shown on their website not the 17 piece model i got at Macy’s for 79.00 on sale) I haven’t been able to find any info about the juicing attachment for the little baby blender… just a line drawing on the companies website…

I do want a juicer. I have a centrifugal one that my father found for me at a garage sale (Hamilton beach juice extractor) it bogs down requires you to chop things into little tiny pieces and is a mes to clean… and I’ve borrowed friends jack lelane which seemed a bigger version of the same thing just as messy to clean and just as much pulp to throw away but easier to throw bigger pieces of fruit and veggies down the shoot.

Based on clean up, which you think is the best? Of course I can’t afford some 2000.00 item but if it costs a bit more but is truly easier to pop apart and clean, and or truly delivers more juice from less produce more easily, I’d be more inclined to use it. Since you’ve used all kinds, I’ll really value your input on the cleanup aspect.

The magic bullet isn’t really a juicer in the true sense of things. It is more a blender. If you want to make smoothies on the road, it would be great for that. They are very compact. If you want a kale, apple, carrot and ginger juice, it is not a choice for that. I have not tried to put all those items whole in the blender and chop them up but I doubt it would be successful. I have tried to chop some items and it did not fair well. Not really what it is designed for in my opinion.

The magic bullet has a mixed reputation on reliability. I have heard some say it breaks down and it is cheap. I have not found that to be the case personally. I have had mine for over a year and I still dig it. It is super small and sits on our counter all the time. We use it for scrambling eggs and making a quick smoothie with strawberrys, kephir, banana, and bee pollen. Also, not so healthy but it is excellent for making margaritas quickly. I would say on average we use it about every other day for something. Very handy and hardly any effort is needed to clean it.

You might look into the vertical juicers that are the new thing on the market if you want a “true” juicer to travel with. I have not physically touched one yet but I’ve seen demonstrations. They are a smaller but also pricey.

My husband and I would like to say a huge thank you for creating this website, doing all this impressive research on different types of juice makers and sharing results with other people. Based on what we learned from you, we made a decision to purchase Omega 8004. We’ve been using it for a week every day now, and not only our consumption of fruits and vegetables increased dramatically, but we also added a variety of vegetables and wheat grass that we would not normally use in our daily meals. I recently bought an omega 8006 juicer for my parents, based largely on the recommendation from this website: here was my starting point, and all other reviews I read were positive so I went for it. I’m very pleased with the juicer, as are my parents – so first of all I wanted to say a big thank you for your review.

I subsequently bought an Easy-Health Angel (angelia) juicer for myself and my wife. I’ve noticed that this is featured on your website too, though there is not much in the review section – I guess as you don’t have access to this juicer. I’d very much like to give back to the juicing community and provide a review of the angel, and would be pleased if it were hosting on your site. I suppose I am in a unique position in that I have good experience of two juicers, but am not a retailer and am not interesting in ‘pushing’ either one of them. Part of my motivation is that prior to buying my angel, I was unable to find any really decent reviews on the net, of the standard of your omega-review.

I also tend to believe that it kind of has this mystical status much like the Champion juicer has. People have been using both of these for so long they become jaded and out of loyalty can’t even imagine newer more versatile machines. I get flamed every time I mention that I don’t think the Champion juicer is all it’s cracked up to be.

Yes, the Champion juicer is awful for leafy greens. It is bad at celery too. Drives me nuts.

I like the twin gear juicers like the Greenstar but for the money of around $230, dual screen single auger juicers like the Omega 8003 or the Oscar single auger juicers are awesome. Both will juice wheatgrass and leafy greens very well. I use my Omega 8003 to juice beet greens, spinach, parsley and different lettuce types all the time. The pulp comes out very dry in my opinion. Plus this machine is small and super easy to clean. It won’t stay in your kitchen cabinet like so many appliances seem to. It’s my favorite so far.

Oh, and I’m not an Omega salesman. I get accused of that all the time too. This is not a popularity contest for me. I don’t care what machine people buy. This has become strictly a quest and fun for me to discover what machines were cool and which ones weren’t so much. I would like to see people get healthy and any machine will produce better juice than store bought. No matter, fresh juice is better for you than drinking a coke.

I make a glass or two of juice at a time for my wife and me. It cuts the prep time down some because I’m using up less produce at a time. I don’t make a ton of juice and store it in the frig. Since the main reasons I use a juicer is to get the live enzymes and highest level of nutrition, I don’t store the juice but instead drink it right away. There are a lot of claims that some juicers like the Greenstar, Norwalk juicer and even the single auger juicers that Oscar and Omega make can produce juice that has a slower pace of oxidation. Therefore they feel you can store it in the frig and still retain its nutrition level. This is one of the big marketing claims for these machines. I know live enzymes die off fast so I’m less inclined to believe these storing claims. I would try to make just a glass or two at a time and thereby cut your prep down and raise your nutrition intake up. But you have to decide what is most important to you and there is something awfully nice about being able to go to the frig and pour a quick glass. And no matter what, the juice is still better than the pasteurized stuff you get at the market.

Ah, the dreaded pineapple… I love pineapple juice but to be honest with you, I haven’t found a juicer that I think effectively processes pineapple well. In some machines it froths up or turns into mash. The fiber and air that gets whipped up into the pineapple during juicing just makes it harder to deal with. You will still get juice out of it but it is a struggle. It clogs the mesh baskets of centrifugal juicers, the single auger screens as well as the twin gear juicer screens. The video I did on the Omega 8003 juicer Part II, shows that pineapple is hard to get dry pulp from. I’ve found that if you run oranges in with the pineapple, you can get better results. The fiber in the orange peel seems to help clear the screens. I’ve not tried this in a Greenstar yet but you might try it and see.

I’ve taken more to eating a few pineapple chunks while I’m juicing it and now I’m blending pineapple more. It does end up stringy when done that way sometimes. So unfortunately, I have not found a more effective way to juice pineapple. It’s just one of those fruits that are tough to deal with.
