The Breville Juice Fountain Elite 800JEXL is Often Voted the Best Juicer in Consumer Reviews – Really?

by Jim

Many people feel the Breville Juice Fountain Elite 800JEXL is the best juicer on the market for a number of reasons. This Breville juicer is the top of the line machine for Breville and is a well constructed die-cast unit. These juice extractors are stainless steel, which makes them highly attractive and sets them apart from all other centrifugal juicers in this category.

I own the JE98xl, which is almost the same machine but is constructed in high grade plastic.  The 800 was designed from machines used in juice bars and is more professional so to speak.

So what makes this such a highly rated juicer or the one many people consider to be the best juice extractor?

Here are a number of reasons people love this juicer:

Introduced in 1999 this Breville juice extractor was the first to be able to juice entire apple without having to cut it up into pieces. Most centrifugal juicers have a feeder tube that sets to one side of the juicer. This can make the juicer wobble under heavy loads of produce because they can easily become off balance. The Breville 800JEXL juicer has its feeder tube set in the center so it never goes off balance and can therefore handle entire apples in one grinding motion down its 3″ feeder tube. To get an entire glass of apple juice takes mere seconds! This makes the juicing process extremely fast and it eliminates the vegetable prep time completely. (See the video below for how Breville came up with this idea.)

The power and speed at which this juicer machine runs is impressive and comparable to many commercial juicers. There are 1,000 watts and a 1 1/3 horsepower motor in this machine. This power is regulated by an electronic chip which dictates how much power is offered to the cutting blades depending on what type of vegetable or fruits are being juiced. This helps maintain the optimum power to load ratio. The Breville juicer can deliver 13,000 revolutions per minute on high speed which is highly effective at separating the vegetable juice from the pulp.

The Juice Fountain Elite is made of die-cast and stainless steel which gives it a more professional and durable finish. This juicer is solid. Fruit and vegetables come in contact with the stainless steel which they will never stain. It also makes this machine easier to clean. It can be compared to commercial juicers because of this finish.

The cutting blades and mesh filter basket are of a patented design which does a better job of shredding the pulp into the smallest particles possible. Then it is filtered through the stainless steel mesh which has individual holes so small they can’t be seen individually with the human eye. This provides a higher juice yield than many other centrifugal juicers on the market. This is common to all Breville juicers.

This is a great juice machine if you have a family because it comes with a huge 34 fluid ounce pitcher and a 100 fluid ounce pulp container. It is very durable and will hold up against rugged use.  Plus it has a safety feature which keeps the machine from working unless the locking bar is properly engaged. You can juice a lot of produce fast, which is great if you have a bunch of impatience kids milling about.

While there are a large number of consumers who swear by this juicer, there are still a few drawbacks and disadvantages for others. It will depend on what you feel is most important to you.  If you are interested in how much they cost, here is a link.

Some disadvantages are:

In Breville juicer reviews of the Elite 800JEXL and as is the case with other centrifugal juicers, it is stated to not juice leafy greens all that well. It may not do parsley well enough for you either. Centrifugal juicers just don’t do as good a job on this type produce as masticating single auger juicers such as the Omega 8005. Nor can it beat out a twin gear model like the Green Star.  I own all these types of machine and it is true that centrifugals do not juice leafy green well.

The Breville Elite is going to be louder on its high setting which could be an issue for early morning juicers. The low setting will make it much quieter but this setting is used mainly for softer fruits and vegetables.

The Elite Juicer is large in size at 16.5 inches and may not fit on some small kitchen counters well.

Some people feel the juice quality may suffer with centrifugal juicers due to heat and oxidation being introduced into the juice. (See juice quality issues.) Maybe this is true but to what extent the quality is an issue for you depends on your own needs and desires. If you want a faster juicing experience, you may suffer some juice quality loss but it is still a thousand times better than store bought juice or a soda. So there is a trade off.

All in all I think if you want an excellently constructed and durable juicer with an ultra-fast juicing time experience, the Breville Juice Fountain Elite 800JEXL is a superb choice. Over a million people have made this choice already.

I know I like my JE95xl a lot and the Elite is a better machine so if it meets your requirements, it is a no brainer.
